Have we ever gotten what we REALLY wanted?

Pondered on this question a few days ago. Only have the time to really think about it now.

We have certainly gotten what we wanted before, but have we gotten what we REALLY wanted before?

The key here is 'really'. Are there times where you wanted something so badly but you did not get it in the end? I have seriously considered this question before, and my answer is: Yes.

I don't know why, but it seems like it is extremely hard to get things that you are dying to get.

Maybe it is because:
1. Want we really wanted are always things that unrealistic.
2. there is this saying "欲速则不达", perhaps we are always too rush to get what we seriously wanted, so things backfire.
3. Things that we really desire is always not within out our grasp.
4. We have not reached the required maturity to get it.
5. We just simply don't have the luck

Just some miscellaneous thoughts, just feel like posting something here.
